A new growing season brings a new group of interns to the OGI Internship Programme. With placements well underway on host farms across the country and the first training days complete, the 2026 cohort is already getting hands-on experience of what organic horticulture looks like in practice.

Our opening day took place on 10th April in Co. Kilkenny, beginning at Shankill Castle with introductions, programme orientation and an overview of Organic Principles & Standards delivered with support from tutor Paula Pender.

The group then travelled to Riversfield Organic Farm for an afternoon farm walk hosted by Vincent Grace, where interns explored practical aspects of organic vegetable production, farm systems and marketing.

There’s always great excitement at the start of a new internship year, as another group of growers taking their first steps into organic horticulture. The 2026 programme is now well underway, and it’s already shaping up to be a great season.
