Farm Walk & Focus Session at Bia Oisín
Perennial cropping and growing fruit under cover in market gardens.
OGI Network travelled to Claregalway for a unique opportunity to hear Oisín Kenny’s journey in growing under glass, and witness the fruits of his trials and labour growing perennials, annuals, fruit, herbs and flowers for market over the last 12 years.
Bia Oisin Market Garden is now in it’s second year of organic conversion and as a 6th generation farmer on the land, it was really inspiring to see Oisíns integrated systems approach in action and hear about his continually evolving experience working with woodchip mulches, growing perennial and self-perpetuating plants, growing seed crops, achieving work-life balance and supplying chefs and his local community.
It was a diverse, thought provoking and inspirational day with lots of great conversations and sharing. Big thanks to Oisín, and all the growers that showed up for another mighty OGI Network Farm Walk Farm Walk & Focus Session.
